弊社の「6月のゆりの展示会」では、ゆりの種類は様々で栽培期間が50日程度の“早生品種”から、定植後100日を超える“晩生品種”まであります。加えて、“オリエンタル・OT”や“スカシ・LA”、“鉄砲ゆり”など多種多様です。
弊社の展示会では、それぞれ特性の異なる品種を開花させた状態で見て頂けるよう工夫しています。今年も500種類を超える“咲いたゆり”を見て頂けるよう一斉開花に挑戦しています。
In our annual exhibition, "Lily Fair June", you can see various varieties such as "early growing" ones which bloom 50 days after planting, and "late growing" which take more than 100 days. There are "Oriental" varieties, "OT", "Asiatics/LA", "Longiflorum", and so on.
We control the schedule and management to make different varieties bloom at same time in the event. This year, of course, we grow more than 500 varieties to show all of them "blooming" to the visitors in our test greenhouse.
一斉開花させた会場では、毎年、ご来場の皆様にご協力頂き、『人気品種ランキング！』を行なっています。昨年のアンケートではシンプルに「最も良かった品種は何ですか？」という問いにお答えいただきました。
ここで、昨年の結果から人気投票No.1の品種とその名前の意味㊟を想像しながらご紹介いたします。
In our event, we ask the visitors to answer questionnaires to research which varieties are popular every year. Last year we asked the visitors simply; "Which one was 'the best' for you?".
I'd like to introduce "No.1" varieties of last year with my guess about the origin of each name.*
ゆりの品種名は世界各地の地名や川、港の名前など、様々な国の言葉が良く用いられます。展示会場でゆりを見ながらその国を想像し、海外に思いを馳せるのも面白いのではないでしょうか。
Words from all over the world are used for lilies' names such as names of places, rivers, and ports. It should be interesting to see the lilies in our test greenhouse and imagine the background of the names.
【オランダ最新切花部門 No.1】
ブリザード
今はまだ展示会場でお見せすることのできない最新品種ブリザード。昨年は特別にオランダから送って頂き特設会場でご覧頂きました。
その中でも一際目を引いたのが純白八重のブリザードでした。こうした最新品種の登場はゆりをさらに興味深いものにしてくれるのではないでしょうか。
ブリザード（Blizzard）は英語で「猛吹雪」の意。雪を欺くほど美しい純白の花は、見る人を凍りつかせるほど美しい？！
<No.1 The newest Dutch cut lily>
"BLIZZARD"
This variety is so new that we cannot test in our greenhouse yet. In last year's exhibition, we asked Dutch exporters to send us its cut flowers to show in our event.
The most popular one in the "Dutch cut lily section" was "Blizzard", which is a pure-white double variety. I believe that such new varieties interest you more.
Its beauty makes people freeze like "blizzard"!?
【八重部門 No.1】
タイニーダブルユー
ゆり業界も、年々、八重咲きの品種が増えてきています。近年、八重咲きや一重でも花粉の吹かない『ノンパウダー』の品種は注目されています。
八重咲きの品種の中でNo.１に輝いたのはタイニーダブルユーでした。
タイニー（Tiny）＝「小さな」、ダブル（Double）＝「八重咲き」という言葉の通り、鉢植え用で30㎝ほどのかわいい八重の品種です。
ひざ位の高さに花を咲かせるため周りの豪華な品種に隠れてしまうほどの小ささです。しかしながら、その鮮やかなオレンジ色は人々の目を引き、たちまち人々の心を奪うほどのかわいらしさです。
<No.1 Double lilies>
"TINY DOUBLE YOU"
Double varieties are increasing every year. Doubles and some single petal varieties which have no pollen powder are called "Non Powder" recently, and such varieties are getting more attention.
The No.1 double variety in our event last year was "Tiny Double You". As the name says, it's a small pot variety of 30cm height.
Their flowers are at the height of people's knees, so they can hide in other big and gorgeous lilies in the greenhouse. However, its vivid orange color catches people's eyes, and attract them right away.
【LA・スカシ部門 No.1】
オレンジココット
落ち着いたオレンジ色で本当に小さく、かわいい花を咲かせるオレンジココット。ココット（Cocotte）はフランスの円形あるいは楕円形の小型の器の意。
昨年の展示会ではアプリコットファッジ（バラ咲き）に次ぐ小さい花のオレンジココットがLA・スカシ部門の1位に輝きました。一言で「ゆり」と言っても大小様々な種類があり、それもまた“ゆりの魅力”の一つかもしれません。
<No.1 LA/Asiatics>
"ORANGE COCOTTE"
The flowers are calm orange and so tiny and pretty. "Cocotte" means a French round small dish.
In last year's event, this "Orange Cocotte" which has the second smallest flowers after "Apricot Fudge" (rosette flowers) became No.1 of LA/Asiatics. There are various sizes of flowers in "LILY", and it's one of its charms.
カベリ
インド南部を流れる河川の名前カベリ（Kaveri）。
ハッ！と目が覚めるような鮮やかな色合いが印象的です。花の中心は深い赤、縁取りは黄色で、グラデーションが絶妙なバランスの品種です。
カベリも500種類を超える品種の中で、皆様の目にとまり心に残る品種ではないでしょうか。
"KAVERI"
"Kaveri" is the name of a river which runs in the south India. It has impressive vivid colors. The middle of the flower is deep red, and the edge of petals is yellow. The gradation is very beautiful.
It should be one of the catchiest varieties of more than 500 varieties in our greenhouse.
【オリエンタル・OT部門 No.1】
モンテビアンコ
イタリア語で「白い山」を意味する、モンテ（Monte）＝「山」、ビアンコ（Bianco）=「白」。ちなみに、フランス語のモンブラン（Mont
Blanc）はフランスとイタリアの国境に位置するアルプス山脈の最高峰。お菓子にも名付けられた日本でもなじみのある言葉ではないでしょうか。
その名に相応しく昨年の展示会でも10本の指に入るほど大きな、超特大 “直径28㎝”の花を咲かせたモンテビアンコ。花の前に立つと圧倒されるほどの大迫力でした。加えて、雪の様に美しい色合いも皆様の印象に強く残ったのではないでしょうか。
<No.1 Oriental/OT>
"MONTE BIANCO"
It means "white mountain" in Italian ("Monte"="mountain", and "Bianco"="white"). By the way, "Mont Blanc" is the name of the peak of Alps which lies between France and Italy. "Mont Blanc" is familiar with Japanese people as well because it's used for cake's name.
Like its name, "Monte Bianco" made huge flowers of 28cm across, which was in 10 biggest flowers in last year's exhibition. The big flowers even overwhelmed people who stood in the front. I guess that its snow-white color also attracted the visitors.
グラシア
オリエンタル・OT部門で1位タイに選ばれたのはグラシア(Gracia)でした。スペイン語で「優美・優美な」を意味します。
その名の通り“上品で美しい”グラシアは、花の直径が26㎝と大きくボリュームのある品種でありながら、淡いピンクは上品で主張しすぎないところが、多くの方に好感を得られたのではないでしょうか。
"GRACIA"
"Gracia" was a tie for the first place in Oriental/OT. It means "elegance" in Spanish.
The flower is indeed "elegant and beautiful", and I think that it received people's attention because its light pink color was modest and refined, while the flower size was very big as 26cm across.
