今回は私、中村光輝が試験ハウスの見どころをご紹介いたします。
今年は416品種を試験栽培しています。一年で最も重要な物日のひとつ年末を想定した栽培試験で、この品種数を一度に試験しているところは他にはありません!? じっくり見て歩くと、2時間はかかる内容になっています。
Today's blog is by Teru Nakamura. I'd like to introduce the situation of our test greenhouse now.
In this late forcing trial, we are testing 416 varieties, and the planting/growing schedule is aimed for the new year's day which is one of Japan's biggest demands in a year. We believe that no other places are testing such a big number of varieties in this season!? If you check and see the greenhouse in details, it takes more than 2 hours.
この中で、私が注目しているのは、“抑制時期の八重”です。
近年、ゆりも品種改良が進み、数多くの八重が出てきました。一方で、八重の中にはこの時期“葉焼け”や“つぼみの奇形”が起きやすい品種もあります。数年来、弊社でも八重の栽培試験をしていますが、多くは開発途中のものでした。
しかし、今年は多くの品種を試験できているため、抑制作型でも期待できる八重が出てきました。
その中から、私の好みで一部ご紹介いたします。促成試験の開花写真と合わせてご覧ください。
The point which I pay attention is "double varieties in late forcing".
Breeding of double varieties has been developed rapidly in recent years and many new doubles were born. Meanwhile, there are some double varieties which show leaf burns or deformed buds in late forcing season. We have tested many double varieties, but most of them were in the middle of development and still had things to improve.
In this year's late trial, we could manage to plant much more doubles than ever, and there are some varieties which seem good in late season as well.
I'd like to introduce some of them with the flowers' photos from the early trial.
サマンサ
SAMANTHA

サマンサはご存知の方もいるかと思いますが、花弁は濃いピンクに縁取りの白が映え、つぼみは丸く、まるで“蓮”の様な品種です。栽培期間は八重の中でも長い方ですが、茎が硬くしっかりしており、かつコンパクトで枝が折れにくい。
この花を一度見たら、“ゆりのファン”になること間違いなし！！
I think that many of you know this Samantha. The petals are thick pink and the white edge is the accent. The buds are round, and the flower looks like lotus.
The growing period is comparatively long in double varieties, but the stems get hard and branches are compact and difficult to break.
This variety makes you "a fan of lily" at the first sight!
レオナ
LEONA

純白の八重は非常に可憐で息を吞む美しさがあります。一方で、抑制試験では葉焼けなどを引き起こす品種が多くありました。
レオナは今のところ目立った障害は見られず、期待の品種です。従来のものと比べて枝振りが良く、花の向きも絶妙で、丁度、目線の先に美しい花がくる品種です。
涼しくなってきたこの時期は、長い間、綺麗な状態の花を楽しんで頂けると思います。
Pure white double is very beautiful and attracts people. On the other hand, there are many white doubles which get leaf burn easily in late forcing season.
This Leona doesn't show such problems so far, and we can expect it to be good. The shape of branches is good, and the direction of buds is nice as well, so flowers come the perfect place to see in your view.
Now the temperature is getting lower and lower, so you should be able to enjoy the flowers in good condition for a long time.
ダリンダ

数少ない赤の八重の中から選んだのは、ダリンダです。
ダリンダはコンパクトで茎も硬く、上向きで扱いやすい品種です。この時期は発色も良く、他の花と合わせても“一際、目を引く鮮やかな赤”を見せてくれるでしょう。
The one which I chose from the few red doubles is Dalinda.
Dalinda has compact shapes and hard stems, and flowers are up-facing, so it's easier to handle. The coloring is clear in this cool season, so Dalinda's red is vivid and eye-catching even in other flowers.
「ノンパウダー！？」
八重の品種は見た目の綺麗さだけではなく、ゆりの欠点でもある花粉の粉が吹かない「ノンパウダー」のため、様々な場面・方々に安心してお使い頂けると思います。
また、一重の中にもバンドームを代表とする花粉が吹かない品種が流通し始めました。
既存品種の安心感と新しい品種への期待感が合わさった、ゆりの魅力を今後も発信していきたいと思います。
"Non-Powder"
Double varieties are useful not only in the point of their beauty, but also in the point that they don't have pollen powder which is often said to be the weak point of lilies. For this advantage, they can be used in various situations and for various people.
Also in single petal-varieties, some "non-powder" varieties such as Vendome have been introduced in the market.
We will promote this new charm of lily coming from the stable attraction of existing varieties and also expectation for new characteristics.
最後に、今回の抑制試験では、弊社でも初めて試験する最新品種もあります。
「この品種、抑制でも使える！」、「春より秋の方が、姿がいいね！」など、多くの発見がある試験になっています。

At last, there are brand-new varieties which we try for the first time in this trial. There are many discoveries such as "This varieties work well in late forcing, too!" or "It looks better in autumn than spring!".

It should be the busy season for forcers, but we still like to see many of you at our greenhouse.
