梅雨だというのに、ここ数日晴れた日が続いた高知県です。
Even though it's middle of rain season, we've had sunny days for a few days here in Kochi.
本日は、地元の保育園「おさなごの園」の皆さんに、花切り体験においでていただきました。
皆さん元気いっぱいに、花を見て、選んで、歌って踊ってくれました。
Today we invited the local nursery school children to our test greenhouse.
They were so active and saw our lilies in full bloom, and chose some varieties for their souvenir. At last, they gave us a big present of a song and dance.
お気に入りのゆりをハウスから選んできた園児さん達はとても嬉しそうでした。
「お父さんとお母さんにあげる！」なんていう声も聞こえてきておりました。
The children who got their favorite cut lilies looked so happy. Some of them said that "I will present this to mom and dad!".
今回も、恒例のコスプレ姿での登場の先生に釘付けでした。
ご覧のようにお笑い芸人さんのコスプレでした。
本当にこの先生方は、サービス精神の塊です。
Every time some teachers come in special costumes to entertain children and us. This time they were wearing costumes of Japanese famous comedians.
We always get impressed by their hospitality.
帰りもそのままの格好で帰られるコスプレ先生。
They walked back to their school in the costumes.
この企画が、園児の皆さんが花を身近に感じてくれるきっかけになればと思います。
We hope that this event helps children feel flowers more familiar.
一方、養成圃場では、日焼け対策万全の山下が摘蕾をしておりました。
お茶摘みをしているようにも見えますね。
摘蕾作業中に、近所の方に、「何をしているのか？」と聞かれたりしておりました。
Meanwhile, in our bulb field, Yamashita who was fully-armed against sunburn was dis-budding.
It also looks like she's picking tea leaves.
A neighbor walking by was asking her what she was doing.
山下は、丁寧に説明しておりましたが、ご近所さんの目には、いったいどのように映っていたのでしょう？
She was explaining well. I wonder how it looked like from the neighbor's eye.
※摘蕾とは、球根を太らせるために、花を咲かせる用の養分であり力を、球根を太らせるために使えるよう花が咲く前の蕾を取り除くことです。
* Dis-budding before blooming is a necessary process to make bulbs grow, not to use the bulbs' power for blooming but for enlargement of the bulbs.
摘蕾は、養成において重要な工程の一つなのです。
Dis-budding is an important job for growing bulbs.
